A young boy is pondering the good behaviors of his feathery neighbors; so much so he believes they are superheroes. One day, a Hurricane came out of nowhere and struck his town!. He calls on the Turkey neighbors when his house begins to flood. They showed up just like he believed they would! They flew (yes turkeys fly) the boy and his family up into a tall tree, and then saved the rest of the neighborhood. He thanks his neighbors over a cup of coffee in his home, for being the first ones on scene to save the day. The boy explains how Benjamin Franklin was correct about the character of these birds, and how the Turkey deserved to be the American symbol.

A native New Yorker, Lauren Lombardo is a natural born artist. Her stories and illustrations depict lessons and metaphors from nature. Most of her illustrations are collage, watercolor, and mixed media. Her books aim to touch the senses of children in a digital world. She wants to connect the child, parent, and inner artist in all of us through illustration, and rhyme. Lauren spends her time teaching painting, some times at home in New York City, and others in the South of Italy. She loves to cook, tell fun stories, paint, ice skate and spend time with her family.
