Description
Author Description
After receiving her Master's Degree in Education, Pamela Myers became involved in the development of the Elementary Program at the San Francisco School, an independent school in San Francisco, where she taught First Grade for forty years. As a sabbatical project in 1995 she used her (then) 26 years of experience teaching reading, to write The Adventures of the Wood Elves in collaboration with artist Augusta Talbot, who did the captivating watercolor illustrations. Her goals were to inspire a growing excitement about reading, to help the children develop a strong phonetic and sight reading vocabulary, and to bring them from a beginning reading level to one of competence and fluency. The children loved the books and they proved a most successful reading series. Now that she has retired, Pamela and Augusta are again collaborating, with the help of Eli Noyes, to make The Adventures of the Wood Elves available to parents and teachers who wish to augment and nourish their children's emerging reading skills and foster a lifelong enjoyment of reading.
