Okakura Kakuzo (1862-1913) was a Japanese art and cultural critic who later served as an advisor and a curator of the Department of Japanese and Chinese Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, from 1903 to 1913. The Book of Tea, his most famous and lasting work, was originally published in 1906 in the United States as an attempt to bridge the spiritual gap between the East and West.
