A must have guide to the world-famous whiskies of Islay, the jewel in the Scotch whisky crown
A recognised jewel in the Scotch whisky crown and a place the New York Times deemed 'pilgrimage-worthy', the tiny Scottish island of Islay is responsible for some of the world's most sought-after malt whiskies. In A Passion for Whisky, celebrated whisky writer and Master of the Quaich Ian Wisniewski delves into everything from the history of distilling on Islay, to how Islay's unique combination of ingredients and climate produce some of the finest examples of Scotland's national drink, as well as how best to enjoy your dram, what glassware to select with your whisky and how to easily pick out tasting notes.
Filled with detailed profiles on each of Islay's nine celebrated distilleries and their most desirable offerings, and studded throughout with the voices of Islay-dwellers and experts, this is an essential book for every dedicated admirer of Scotch whisky.
