Description

The Photologicon is a complete foundation for those who wish to conduct or participate in any form of modern metaphysical ritual. It was created as a curriculum for the Universal Circle of Light, but has evolved to serve the larger world of modern metaphysical practices, from basic Neo-Paganism to Neo-Hermeticism. Anyone wanting to find a more positive, philosophically grounded, spiritually focused, universal, and progressive path will appreciate what this book has to offer. Those who approach this work without any prior related studies or experience will find themselves benefitted by the thoroughness of the explanations provided here, while advanced practitioners will find this text indispensable, since many of the subjects are examined in much greater depth than is usual. Practitioners of other faiths will also find this text useful, since the essence of human religion and its expression through ritual symbolism are truly universal. Volume 1: A Metaphysical Primer Explains how the essential principles and practices of modern metaphysical ritual are derived from historic cross-cultural foundations, including Indo-European shamanism and paganism, Egyptian priestcraft, Near Eastern religion (Sumerian, Babylonian, Mithraism, etc.), Indic/Vedic roots, and from Neo-Platonic and Hermetic mysticism. This volume provides an in-depth examination of the most important elements of ritual symbolism, including: the ritual circle as a temple and as a microcosmic personal universe; the importance of specific ritual times, based in the position of the Sun relative to the signs of the Zodiac and other constellations, such as the decans and the Mansions of the Moon; the four classic metaphysical elements (Air, Fire, Water, and Earth); numerology; and the Runes of the Elder Futhark. It shows how all of these relate to the eternal cosmological order that keeps the power of creation moving through fundamental stages of time and space. It also shows how all of these may be used to empower ritual, from establishing a circle, to crafting artifacts that are used in ritual, to the most potent methods for invoking divine powers.
