Author Description

Katherine Ladny Mitchell makes her cottage-like home in Chattanooga, Tennessee with her husband, Jason, and their five Mitchell munchkins: Elijah, Selah, Caleb, Steward, and Aletheia. A lover of musicals, singing, writing, and rhyme, Katherine started playing with words as a child and never outgrew the habit. Elijah's infantile hiccups inspired Katherine's creation of Dr. Hickerup - the first whimsical expert in the Up People series. Katherine wanted to write a fun, energetic story that would delight not only children, but also the adults reading to them. "I think children's stories should have a plot. I wanted to write something that would make children smile and grownups smirk with a classic problem-meets-solution format. I hope with Mrs. Trim It Up I've created something enchanting and encouraging to engage both audiences. "I'm also so thankful God paired me up with Chelsea. Her illustrations bring the story to life. I'm also grateful to Connie Huddleston who took words and paintings and turned them into a book. Now others can finally enjoy this sequel!" Katherine graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from Covenant College and has also published a narrative nonfiction book with her husband called, "Don't Settle for a Fairy Tale: A True Love Story." Katherine's stories have also appeared in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Tea Time Magazine, Love is a Verb Devotional, and other local/indie published works. When she's not writing, Katherine enjoys singing, dancing, taking tea with friends, and walking in the woods. She also breathes fire and enjoys her modest collection of tea cups.
