Mary-Joan Gerson is a psychologist, world-traveler and distinguished writer. She has published three books for children, including Why the Sky is Far Away (1992), which was a New York Times best illustrated book. She lives with her husband in New York City. Fiesta Femenina is her first title for Barefoot Books. Maya Gonzalez is an award-winning illustrator and graphic artist. She has illustrated many books for children, including Laughing Tomatoes and Other Spring Poems by Francisco Alaron (1996), which won the Pura Belpre Honor Award. Maya lives in San Francisco, California.
