Hi, there!
Today, I want to tell you a cool story and teach you an idiom.
First, the idiom: Have you ever heard someone say "Better late than never?"
It means that it is better to do something late than to never do it at all.
Why am I talking about the idiom, "Better late than never?"
It's because I read a story about an old woman named Kuttiyamma. She is from India, and she is 104 years old. This old woman did something most people do when they are kids. She learned to read!
Kuttiyamma lives in a small town in India, and is poor. In the past, it was not common for girls to go to school in some small towns in India. They would work hard cleaning, cooking and feeding the chickens.
Kuttiyamma always felt sad that she couldn't read newspapers. She didn't know what was happening in the world.
So, she decided to learn to read.
Now, at 104 years old, she can finally read a newspaper every morning.
Better late than never!
